Things to Do in Myrtle Beach
Your guide to the best of the Grand Strand — from sun-up to well past sundown.
Myrtle Beach draws over 20 million visitors a year, and for good reason. The Grand Strand — a 60-mile stretch of Atlantic coastline in South Carolina — delivers everything from lazy beach days to high-energy nightlife, with enough restaurants, attractions, and shopping to fill a week without repeating anything.
Whether you’re here for a family vacation, a girls’ trip, a golf weekend, or just a long-overdue escape from reality, here’s how to make the most of your time in Myrtle Beach.
Daytime: Beach, Boardwalk, and Beyond
The beach itself is the main event — miles of wide, sandy shoreline with warm water from May through October. But when you’ve had enough sun, the Grand Strand has plenty more to offer.
The Myrtle Beach SkyWheel stands 187 feet above the Boardwalk and offers panoramic views of the coastline. It’s especially stunning at sunset and after dark when the wheel lights up in changing colors. The surrounding Boardwalk district is packed with arcades, shops, and oceanfront restaurants.
Ripley’s Aquarium at Broadway at the Beach is one of the top-rated aquariums on the East Coast. The underwater tunnel, shark exhibits, and interactive touch tanks make it a hit with all ages. Plan about two hours for a full visit.
Broadway at the Beach is the largest festival entertainment complex in South Carolina — 350 acres of shopping, dining, attractions, and nightlife built around a 23-acre lake. It’s home to WonderWorks (the upside-down building), Ripley’s, the Hard Rock Cafe, and, of course, Crocodile Rocks.
Golfers have over 80 courses to choose from along the Grand Strand, ranging from championship-caliber layouts to affordable public courses. Barefoot Resort, TPC Myrtle Beach, and Caledonia Golf & Fish Club are among the most popular.
Evening: Where the Night Takes Off
When the sun goes down, Myrtle Beach doesn’t slow down — it shifts gears. The nightlife scene here punches well above what you’d expect from a beach town.
The Boardwalk bars and oceanfront clubs draw the late-night crowd, but for live entertainment that’s genuinely different from every other night out, the locals and the regulars head to Broadway at the Beach.
Crocodile Rocks is where the night peaks. Four piano players, six hours of non-stop live music, and a crowd that came to sing. Our dueling pianos format means every show is different — driven entirely by audience requests. Doors open at 7:00 PM, show starts at 7:30, and the music runs until 1:30 AM. No cover on some nights, reserved seating available for high-tops, pit, and VIP sections. Check tonight’s show.
The Hard Rock Cafe and other Broadway at the Beach restaurants make great pre-show dinner spots — eat, walk the lake, then head to Croc Rocks for the main event.
Rainy Day Options
Rain doesn’t ruin a Myrtle Beach trip — it just moves the fun indoors. WonderWorks has over 100 interactive exhibits across three floors. TopGolf is a short drive away. And Ripley’s Aquarium is better on a cloudy day anyway (fewer crowds).
Or skip the tourist attractions entirely: grab a late lunch, take a nap, and show up at Crocodile Rocks at 7 PM for the kind of night that makes the whole trip worth it.
